About Discovery Music Center

Quincy Jones was an American record producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, arranger, and film and television producer. His multi-award-winning career spanned over 60 years. A lesser-known truth about this world-renowned icon is that Quincy first discovered music as a Bremerton, Washington youth.

Inspired by Quincy’s discovery of music and the tremendous career that followed, MDC provides educational and experiential exposure to the world of music. We exist to create individual and communal access to music creation and the enjoyment it breathes into our lives.

Regardless of age, ethnicity, social, or economic boundaries, we work together to help others encounter their awakening to music discovery.

Architect, Founder and Partner at Rice Fergus Miller Architecture & Planning, Bremerton (ret.) Steve led the design and development of Quincy Square in downtown Bremerton.

Tom McVicker
Vice-President

Longtime chorale music teacher and ensemble director at Olympic High School, recently retired. Frequent nominee to the “Who’s Who in American Music” charter. A Kitsap native, Tom leads MDC’s Education & Mentoring Committee and spearheads our “Music In A Box” instrument re-gifting program.

Tax Manager and Staff Accountant at Waterfront CPA Group, Silverdale. Matt participates in MDC’s Fundraising & Finance Committee.

Mark Siyluy
Secretary

Innovative Senior System Engineer supporting enterprise digital transformation initiatives across the Department of the Navy to rapidly integrate technologies that redefine the way we build, deploy, fight, and sustain. Mark is also a fine drummer percussionist and educator.

Dean Kelly
Co-Founder & Past Vice President

Architect, Principal and owner at Rice Fergus Miller Architecture & Planning, Bremerton, accomplished lead guitarist. Dean chairs MDC’s Administration Committee.

Charles Henderson
Co-Founder

Commercial real estate broker, owner of The Henderson Group, Bremerton. Chuck participates in MDC fundraising and long-range planning.

Harriette Bryant
Co-Founder

Kitsap activist and board member at numerous Kitsap nonprofits, founder and President/CEO of OurGEMS, Executive Director at YWCA of Kitsap County, Bremerton. Harriette is active in MDC’s Community Outreach Committee.

Derick Polk
Past Vice President

Performing jazz bassist and music educator, career US Navy Band member (ret.), member Bremerton Westsound Symphony. Derick is a mainstay in Kitsap area youth music education efforts and has led MDC’s Music Discovery Partnership at Catalyst Public School.

Miranda Fort
Past Secretary

Director of Workforce Development, Easterseals Washington and Leadership Kitsap graduate. Miranda also chairs MDC’s Community Outreach Committee.

Redge Campbell

District Director of Operations, Peninsula District Kaiser Permanente (ret.), longtime rowing coach and music supporter, Bremerton. Redge chairs MDC’s Fundraising & Finance Committee.

Brynn Felix

Community health attorney, former classroom teacher and marching band coach, mallet percussionist and drum & bugle corps enthusiast. Brynn contributes to MDC’s education & mentoring efforts and supports MDC’s evolution as a nonprofit entity.

Irene Moyer

President & CEO of the Greater Kitsap Chamber, board chair-elect at Leadership Kitsap, board member of the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance. Irene supports MDC’s Marketing and Community Outreach Committees.

Jon Green

Assistant Principal Bass at Seattle Symphony (ret), performing musician, board member at One Call For All, Bainbridge Island. Jon participates in MDC’s Mentoring & Education and Fundraising & Finance Committees

Jean Lenke

Jazz‑folk vocalist and band-leader whose free‑spirited, genre‑blending style “paints music in full color,” weaving classic jazz, folk, and fusion influences into a warm, expressive sound.

Paige Ward

Real Estate Broker, TV spokesperson, and drummer for popular local band, The Granny Panties, Paige helps with MDC’s outreach efforts and program planning.

Erin Chung-Hoon

Interim Director of Events & Food Services for Student Affairs at Olympic College.  Also, Alumni Association Team Lead at Leadership Kitsap.
